Our client in the Mining Sector seeks an experienced Mining Engineer to join their team based in Centurion, Pretoria.
Preferred Requirements

Education

• BSc Eng (Mining) or BEng (Mining) or BTech (Mining) or NHD (Mining with additional minimum 2 years post operational experience
• Professional Registration

Experience

• 5 years operational experience in Mining Engineering
• 3 years post operational experience

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

To oversee and align all mining related functions as may be required from various projects in which the company and its clients may be involved.

Operational Execution

• In conjunction with the Project Manager, ensure corporate governance in project/ study/ setup and execution as well as in all related correspondence
• Compilation and or the coordination of the compilation of all required design criteria and the subsequent required sign off of such criteria documentation
• Conducting research and benchmarking exercises as required
• Conducting trade-off studies and the verification on input data
• Conducting studies, feasibility studies, equipment selection and optimization studies, new technology studies, competent persons, mining method selection studies
• Provide input to, guidance and review of study areas related to a mining project/ study such as Capital and Operating cost determination, labour determination, environmental impact assessments, mining permitting, legal compliance and all sub-areas that may be deemed as being mine design related
• Providing input, guidance and continual review of mine design work to be performed by mine planners, including the provision of all relevant and required information for conducting mine designs as per the client agreed criteria
• Providing input, guidance and continual review of production scheduling work to be performed by mine planners, including the provision of all relevant and required information for conducting production schedules as per the client agreed criteria
• Reviewing of designs and technical reports conducted and compiled by external professionals where these from part of the company involvement in any projects
• Ensuring alignment between all departments and role players
• Ensure continual monitoring of project/study progress and communicate any foreseen delays as soon as practicably possible
• Inspecting drawings for compliance with the designs and relevant specifications
• Assistance with project planning and co-ordination
• Adjudication of enquiries/tenders
• Drawing up and motivation of relevant changes of scope

Administration

• Keep adequate technical and other documentation records
• Maintaining a decision log
• Compilation of all mining related technical reports and documentation in accordance with standards of good conduct and/or client agreed standards
• Provide accurate reports on engineering status and progress on Projects
• Compile reports as require (weekly or monthly)
• Complete, update and maintain project specific documentation
• Complete company documentation (e.g. leave forms)
• Manage the administration of all contractual communications on discipline specific contracts
• Assist with compiling data pack by providing the necessary technical information
• Compile and submit timesheets as per the Time Sheet policy
• Capture expenses as per the Fox Projects requirements
• Conduct and adhere to a filing system in accordance with company standards

Communication

• Communicate matters to relevant stakeholders
• Respond to mining related inquiries from existing or prospecting clients
• Liaising with clients regarding progress and queries
• Preparation for meetings Convene and manage meetings
• Participate and attend meetings
• Ensure the frequent recording of correspondence with the client in line with good practice; this may include recording of "notes for the record" and meeting minutes
• Frequent and timely communication of required information to all relevant role players both internally as externally
• Compilation of presentations to existing and prospecting clients as may be required
• Liaison with and co-ordination of external professionals and consultants
