Dear Sir/Ma’am, I graduated with my MSc Geology degree end of last year at Stellenbosch University. I am now actively looking for a job. I am passionate about the environment and looking after our planet. My MSc entailed looking at groundwater salinization in the Buffels River valley in the Northern Cape Province as a result of high salt content present in heuweltjie soils in this area (my thesis is online on SUN Scholar under the Earth Science department section). The end goal for this project was to find the cause of salinization (through use of extensive soil sampling and analyses), and to then look for a solution, to help the people in this area, and possibly create more jobs for them through agriculture, if possible. For my Honours, I looked at different fertilizer applications to a silage corn field, which included biochar, to see which would keep the soil in top condition, while also nourishing the plants effectively. As a result of my Honours and MSc projects, I have a lot of experience in soil sampling and analysis. My undergraduate degree was a BSc in Environmental Chemistry with a minor in Mathematics. It was during this degree that I became passionate about the environment and realized how important it is to take care of our planet. I improved my writing skills significantly while living in Canada, and I have published a paper and a few abstracts for conference proceedings, and I am currently working on publishing a paper for my MSc work. I am also co-author of a few published papers and conference proceedings. I am a fast learner, hard worker, and very reliable person, always meeting deadlines. My job experience entails working for various professors at my undergraduate university in Canada, where I was a research assistant, as well as a tutor for various subjects.
