I am a South African, currently living in Mauritius, who would prefer to find remote or online work, within the scope of my capabilities. I am a fast learner, who has excelled in all the roles in which I have done. I am a self-starter, go-getter, multi-tasker who thrives on a challenge and loves nothing more than to get stuck into my work. When the Covid-19 Pandemic hit South Africa and the government placed us on a lockdown, essential services were able to continue working and I worked for a company which fell into this category. All employees were asked to work remotely, with a few of us being given permits in order to be able to travel to the office when and if need be. It was during this time that I realized that most, if not all, of our functions could be performed remotely, when we had the proper tools. As much as I am a sociable person, I thrived in this environment, in fact, when the employees were asked to return to being office based, I was one of the few employees who was able to continue working remotely, as I had proven myself capable. I have my N6 Certificate in Management Assistance and have fulfilled many administrative functions throughout my career. A few months after completing my N6, I was hired as a secretary at a Real Estate Agency where I performed general administrative functions such as typing, filing, daily running of reports, switchboard, placing of advertisements, taking photographs of listed houses, general corresponding with auditors, attorneys, buyers and sellers as well as any other ad hoc duties required by the Principal and other agents. I spent four years as a Researcher for a Trade Solutions Company, where it was my function to research legal entities and ensure that the Risk Analysts had all the necessary information on these businesses, which I would obtain through web searches, telephonic interviews and buyer visits, in order to assess the risk on granting credit insurance cover on these businesses, to our policy holders. It was also required that I set up meetings between Chief Financial Officers and our Risk Analysts, for which I would, on occasion, be required to attend. I was then hired as the Personal Assistant to the Financial Director of a freight forwarding company. I was responsible for the typing up of welcome letters to new customers, sending out monthly fuel surcharges, ordering and distributing fuel cards, compiling fleet reports, arranging and maintaining cellphone contracts and handsets, assisting the HR manager with increase letters and other confidential matters, arranging catering for and setting up of the boardroom, minute taking of monthly meetings, disciplinary hearings and board meetings. It was also required that I fill in for the Personal Assistant to the CEO, when she was unavailable and fulfilled other ad hoc duties when and if they arose. In my most recent position, I was initially hired as the Contract and Project Administrator, I would assist both the Contract and Project Manager with daily administrative tasks, as well as with placing orders on contractors, delivering tenders to embassies, minute taking and compiling of data packs amongst other functions. I was then promoted to being the Buyer, where I was responsible for for the purchasing for every branch within South Africa, from both local and global suppliers. This included placing orders, receipting stock into our system, expediting orders, maintaining stock levels for fast moving items, compiling and maintaining price lists, quality control documentation, arranging of freight forwarders for collection of stock, assisting sales reps with quotations, COD purchases and stock levels, sourcing stock from other branches when necessary, minute taking of monthly sales meetings, assisting Sales Manager with visa applications and travel arrangements and decision making with regard to building stock or ordering complete seals, by comparing the cost of each, the turnaround time of each and whether or not we had sufficient stock to build. Whilst fulfilling the Buyer function, I was responsible for filling in for the Internal African Exports Coordinator when she was on Annual Leave or was otherwise unavailable.
