"my one month with 3D"
Added 11 Oct 2013 by a current employee
I was hired by 3D recently when their employees were on strike demanding a wage increase.I had just moved from Limpopo and I needed the job. They gave my colleague and I a car to work with around Pretoria. We had to do four stores a day, which was physically demanding as every store we went to, had no merchandiser. 'It's just a month contract' - I told myself that and continued to work. There was a risk of us meeting those employees on strike as they did not want us doing their job. Honestly, I did not know their employees were on strike when they offered me the job. I knew only after I signed the contract. We worked the whole month from August 5 to August 31 as our contract showed. We were told we will receive our salaries on the 29th or 30th. I did not receive it on either of those 2 dates. My colleague did not get it either. On the 31st it was a Saturday. We worked till 1pm. Their HR department called my colleague and told him to return the car on Monday, the 2nd September. He asked about the salary and they told him that they're working on it. On Sunday the following day, my colleague called me to tell me he received the sum of R600 from 3D. They were supposed to pay him R4500. I decided to go with him to Edenvale as he returned the car. There we found many other guys who either received half or little of their wages. I was the odd one out as I did not get anything. They promised it was a misunderstanding and that we'll get our money by 12pm that day. They told their reps to offer us transport to our different destinations.3 days passed and still no money. I received mine on Thursday that week and my colleague, I believe it was Friday. I did not have a problem, but their dishonesty made me not wish to work with them again. Had they just told us they had problems with their system or whatever the reason was, it would have been better than expecting something and not getting it.
