COBB South Africa

COBB, wholly owned by Tyson foods in the US, is one of the largest one of the world’s largest and most established broiler breeder companies. Established in 1916 in Massachusetts, USA, COBBS’s breed is currently used in chicken production in over 60 countries. When Rainbow Farms first imported grandparent Stock in 1997, they established and built a strong relationship with COBB; soon they moved to utilising the breed completely across all three production divisions, thus COBB SA was formed. Today, COBB SA operates from two large grandparent units: one in Carolina (Mpumalanga) and the other in Mponga Park (near East London). The COBB breed currently has a market share of over 40% in South Africa. COBB supplies all their distributors with stock derived from one common COBB pedigree (located in the US); this ensures a high in performance and consistent breed.
