"Difficult Customers"
Added 29 Jun 2015 by a current employee
I've been working at an Edgars store in the Western Cape since last year October. When I first started on the floor, I found it difficult to deal with angry and moody customers. And let me tell you, the majority of customers are moody and angry, all the time. The existing staff at Edgars were really helpful in moulding me into one of the best customer service workers in the store. If you plan on working at Edgars, by all means, go ahead. Just bear in mind that you will deal with difficult customers on a daily basis.

"Management Cares"
Added 15 Jun 2015 by a current employee
I work as a casual employee at one of Cape Town's Edgars stores. About a month ago, a male colleague of mine grabbed me and kissed me on my mouth without my consent. I felt violated and decided to inform the manager about what had happened. He was called in and questioned about it. The manager followed the correct procedure and not long after that, he got fired. I am very pleased with the way in which Edgars operates.

Great company to work for, opportunity to grow and maximise your potential. Executives very open to help you grow and reach your dreams. I wake with a smile going to work, because there is joy in me to know that I make the difference. It's a joy to work knowing that your job is appreciated and your worth the salary given. Got to love Edgar's - a place to work and grow one's world of opportunities. Keep it up!

"Good career move"

Edcon is the leading clothing, footwear and textiles retailing group in southern Africa trading through Edgars, Boardmans Jet, Jet Mart, Legit, C.N.A, Red Square, Temptations and Prato. The culture is energetic, fast paced and performance focused. The role has taught me to be very independent, versatile and flexible. Being the only person in the department also requires a lot of planning and time management so that I can achieve my day-to-day goals. A typical day at work for me is when I get into the office early to get a head-start, make a cup of coffee and drink it before work start or before going to my work station. Before work start we have a ten minute meeting with the manager and co-workers to actually discuss stats from the previous day. Work the first hours and be productive in them. Go on a tea break and have a bit of a conversation with my fellow co-workers. Go back again to my work station on time and continue with my work and be productive again till lunch time. After lunch, this is the time when I'm normally more productive. The most enjoyable part of the position that I'm in is when the day is almost over, when I actually count my productivity and also look at my work quality for the day. Then I go home.
Best companies to work for in the Retail sector.
