Flightcentre is a great company to work for provided you have great customer service skills and attention to detail, mistakes prove costly in this trade. Its commission based so you in charge of your own earnings however there is a minimum target required by the company that's proves stressful if you haven't reached it. The company rewards you quite a bit in your 1st year with 3 chances of vacations should you qualify, thereafter you will get a chance for 1 global vacation per year, separate from supplier incentives. Every year you are taken on a conference and a national ball to Johannesburg or surrounds. Coastal stores get a weekend away. They have a very young dynamic, driven staff, monthly awards to congratulate good effort is compulsory, food, awards and booze freely available. There is a brightness of future within the company nationally ,through many different sectors as they have ticketing, HR, and land arrangement departments. From a company perspective they have to compete with online which runs 24/7, with that in mind they are extending working hours so to find a 9-5 working hours Monday to Friday only is unlikely however this does provide you with time back in the week when you work weekends and public holidays. Clients may be demanding and you might find yourself working afterhours, there is no such thing as OVERTIME in the travel trade, getting the sale is your reward, you will need time management skills in order to maintain a good work/life balance else you may find yourself overworked due to enquiry and not enough hours in the day. direct and middle management are great as you they have meetings with you monthly or bi monthly, keeping you focused and assisting when required. Higher management is based in head office, swiftly changing so most times they don't know you personally and sometimes make changes that are good from a business perspective however is not practical at a point of sale position at times. Incentive salary structure is great. Provident contribution is not as good as some other companies. They also train you all the time in management, leadership, service, relevant industry training for the job. All in all Flight centre is a great company to work for if you are a self motivated driven individual with a love of travel and can take the stress.
Best companies to work for in the Leisure, travel & tourism sector.
