HP was founded by Stanford University classmates Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard in 1939. An electronic test instrument used by sound engineers – an audio oscillator was their first product which they built in a Palo Alto garage. One of their first customers was Walt Disney Studios, which purchased eight oscillators to develop and test an innovative sound system for the movie Fantasia. The company’s conduct has been guided by the HP Corporate Objectives.
