Kulula.com started operating in August 2001. The South-African low-fare airline operates on major domestic routes out of OR Tambo International Airport and Lanseria, both outside of Johannesburg. It is a wholly owned low-cost subsidiary of British Airways franchise Comair. The Kulula.com destinations include Cape Town (Cape Town International Airport), Durban (King Shaka International Airport), East London (Eat London Airport), George (George Airport), Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport and Lanseria International Airport). The airline has become known for its distinctive, brightly colored and very often humorous livery. As a buy on board programme, kulula.com offers food and drinks. They also offer a frequent flyer program which is called Jetsetter. This is in contrast to other low-cost airlines. Kulula.com also has an in-flight magazine called Khuluma. The magazine appears on their site every month. It contains hot gossip, the latest shopping trends and information on the most up-to-date leisure spots, interviews with comedians, information on what to do and where to go. Kulula is always looking to welcome professional fun loving people. They offer a range of great jobs to apply for: from cabin crew ‘superstars’, to number crunching geniuses. The company has a lot to offer to those who love to work with people.

"Working for Comair"

Comair is a really good company. Tries very hard to take care of its staff members and I must say they are quite good at it in terms of going the extra mile in helping employees and their families with personal problems through ICAS. Growth in the company is very limited however. Wonder if it has something to do with the "Limited" part of the company name, just kidding. There is not much offered to employees to expand their skills into other divisions in the company. Everyone knows what they need to know in their field and are not orientated at all on the rest of the company's division and processes, hence making the company feel like all divisions are separate entities. I'm in the financial division for instance and I receive an indirectly rerouted call. The caller tries to explain their very complicated query and I do not even understand what they are talking about to know how to redirect their call, just a simple example. There is so much gossiping and backstabbing which is so unnecessary but it's reality all around Comair Limited. There are initiatives (in form of HR surveys) that are in place that the company send to employees to have their say on how it feels to work for Comair. The problem is we do not see any actions to curb the problems after all that employees have to say, which then becomes pointless. Another thing I may point out is how from Middle to Top Management the diversity does not exist at all
Best companies to work for in the Airlines / Aviation sector.
