"Limited Growth Prospects"
Added 27 Aug 2015 by a current employee
Career growth at hospital level is non-existent. 90% Of the people in my department is in the exact same positions the passed 10-14 years. You hit the glass ceiling fairly quickly. Head Office level is an elitist environment. You will only get a break if you know the right people. The company tend to offer low level market related salaries. At times under market. Benefits are good. Work life balance can be tricky. Management tend to favour those who put in the longer hours, it's considered a "sign of commitment". If you join the company, or consider to join, be prepared to be another number. You clock in and clock out and get tracked as such. Management is very old school and can be frustrating.

"Favouritism "

Working at Life Healthcare is not dreadful. I enjoy my time there. I am just a bit concerned about my career growth because it seems that only those who become friends with the seniors, get promoted. My aim is to grow in the company, so I will probably have to become buddy-buddy with one of my managers.

Initially, a good company to work for, but with time you realise that management have their own motives. Promotion depends on who you know and not what you know. Would be a good company if fairness and justice is applied by all levels of management. My manager does not have the skills to manage and keep making decisions on a 'I'm getting back at you' basis. I personally would be going back to Netcare, the company that really cares.

I worked at Life Healthcare in their admin department for some time, and overall really enjoyed working there. Their salary structures were well on par and their benefits are great. It felt like the managers genuinely care for their staff and patients. I will recommend this company to anyone looking for a rewarding career in the healthcare industry.
Best companies to work for in the Hospital & health care sector.
