Maxi Security

The security company, maxi security, was established by Michelle and Danie de Villiers in 1991. The company started out with 11 employees but has grown to the current 4 000 employees and learners. Maxi Phumelela Security, Maxi Security’s Black Empowerment company, was formed in May 2004 with Phillip Makhubela and Thandeka Mandindi. Maxi Security held a 55% shareholding in Maxi Phumelela Security (Pty) Ltd. When Phillip Makhubela passed away in December 2010, Ackim Dube purchased his shareholding. The group has been awarded the B-BBEE verification status of a Level Three Contributor, at a B-BBEE Procurement Recognition Level of 110%. Maxi Security is registered with SIRA (Security Industry Regulatory Authority) and is a member of SSEO (South African Security Employers Organisation). The group’s SASSETA (Safety and Security Skills Education Training Authority) accreditation and learners awarded to Maxi Security, their sustainable social projects, funded by themselves, have provided a platform for them to uplift the disadvantaged in rural areas. Currently, they have projects running in the rural communities of Shosonguve, Ekangala, one of which is at the Strauss Secondary School in Ekangala.
