Media 24 Circulation Nothern Newspapers: Although the benefits of employee share allocation are excellent, and development of employees is quiet good, the problem is employees are viewed solely as workers by management. Poor decisions made by top management is overlooked while serious consequences can be expected for the rank & file worker for minor breeches. Inconsistence decision making by senior management. Victimisation is the game they play at best. The Company could have been an excellent workplace had the rank & file felt more appreciated and opinions listened too. An example of bad communication was where the medical benefits were changed without any infomation being forwarded to employees, thereby making the change a fait-acompli. - See more at: http://www.jobvine.co.za/insight/company/paarl-media/191/#sthash.XAGwRzIw.dpuf

• Please not I am based at the JHB offices, not CPT I haven't been at the company long... But what I do know is that it is a well established company with a great reputation. HOWEVER, certain people in high positions, are on such a power trip. It's like they were elected class prefect and think they can rule the school. Salaries (mine at least) are below average and in this economy I am not sure how I manage to even afford fuel on a monthly basis anymore. Must be pure luck. And then there are the clicks... Let me rather not elaborate on this. The benefits are okay, discount on services like DSTV and insurance to name but a few. But these benefits do not outweigh the fact that, there is no such thing as over-time paid, your social life gets demolished... And if you are the nice guy, like me. Then you get stepped on. My skin is starting to turn into leather.

This company focuses on money. They do not care about the amount of over-time worked on an almost constant basis by one department. Employees are expected to work numerous weekends and evenings often without warning or given any supper. Certain individuals are given carte blanche, favoured and come and go as they please being friends with seniors who never reprimand the guilty person(s). They are allowed to swear and play loud music in an open plan office with no repercussions. Severe reprimanding is given to others though. Unfairness is the norm in this company.
Best companies to work for in the Media production sector.
