Mindset Network is a non-profit organisation formed in 2002 to educate and improve health in South Africa. It develops, sources, distributes and uses digital content. Its multimedia content is distributed via broadcast television, IP based satellite datacast, the web, distributable media (hard drives, DVDs and CDs) and mobile networks. The company could be a very good company if only it was fair in its hiring, salary schedules as well as promotion opportunities. Only white people are promoted, with or without qualifications. Some of the people in managerial positions are not qualified education wise. They do pay industry related salaries and promotion is the only way to get a substantial increase, but it is such a small company, most times there is nowhere to go. They are under-staffed to such an extent that one person does 2 jobs and you are not compensated for the extra work. They do not have a well equipped IT department such that we work on machines that hang at all times and they do not attend to problems on time. They want to grow, but are not willing to spend the money to grow. The staff have low morale, because of the working conditions but no-one cares. People are unhappy but they are afraid to complain, because there is a hanging threat of victimization of re-structuring which may affect the complainant. You are also given a performance based bonus. We do not get a 13th cheque. Even if you your performance review was 100%, they always bring it down so that you can never get 100% bonus. I feel there is a lot they could do to make their employees happy if they cared. If they could pay for part of the medical aid and provident fund, the employees would have more money left in their pockets. Their salary increments are not substantial when you look at how much the economy is changing in terms of fuel going up, food going up and everything else. You can get as little as R 200 annual increase and if you get R 1000, you are lucky. Salaries are reviewed once a year.
Best companies to work for in the E-learning sector.
