I worked at MTN as a contractor for a number of years. I truly enjoyed my time at the company and was sad when my contract was not renewed due to cost cutting. I was saddened to learn recently that after all the cost cutting, the MTN Executives received massive, multimillion Rand bonuses (as published on mybroadband) and salaries. Business is business I guess, but if cutting costs is the main objective, then I would have assumed that cutting costs would have been completed all around. I truly loved woring for MTN and I would gladly work there again if given the opertunity. Most managers are very easy to get along with and are great to work with.

"How MTN Leadership Failed Its Employees"
Added 02 May 2015 by a current employee
MTN is a good company with a well established network. They have over 2000 policies that conflicts with the amended ones which are still existing. MTN culture is not aligned properly as a result, top leadership themselves fails to practice and apply it. They have neglected the most critical area "Employee Wellbeing & Employee Centricity". How can a CEO be successful if he has an executive team that does not get along, let alone the Chief of HR who is not honest in advising the disgruntled employees. How can a solid company in MTN succeed if they have a very weak wing in Employee relations that does not cater for employee challenges. How can one promotes ethics if top management deviates from them? How can be top executives takes home lucrative salaries but neglecting the working class reasonable demands? How can the rights of the people be overlooked in terms of restructuring, employee movements as well as retrenchments are not discussed honestly? How can a success be perceived through untrue statistics once presented that is not true and may affect the company being a listed company? How can one conducts an investigation outside the scope of forensics and also having some investigations swept under the carpet by moving individuals affected to other OPCO's? The structure of MTN in other business units does not support the strategy as well as the vision of the company, however, those non-performers individuals are protected and company let go of top performers. Myself and my entire team did not complete two years in service due to lack of consequence management. I'm not being personal, however, when blacks leaves, they are replaced by whites. Is that in line with Employment Equity? The company does not protect whistle blowers and/or high performing personnel but rather protect the tried and tested failures in management. The company lacks Innovative people hence the resignation rate of my department was 75%, most not lasted for two years. The disregard of the constitution, Bill of rights and labour law is an order of the day in mtn, some do as they wish, have business interest not declared, getting friends and family to conduct business for their benefits. Have more consultants (friends) that are paid more that the employees for the work that can be done by current personnel. To surmise, the top structure of MTN is a flop, until such time, this company is going down. Not rewarded for my efforts and systems i introduced, they kill innovation and creativity

"MTN Company Review"

I worked for MTN Nigeria for 5 years from 2001 to 2005 and for MTN Irancell for 3 years from 2006 to 2009. I can only give overall positive feedback about both experiences. MTN took very good care of myself and my family, treated us fairly and made it worth our while financially to have left South Africa for these 8 years.

"MTN the organisation "
Added 30 Apr 2015 by a current employee
The organisation has seen transformation not only at the top management level but also on the ground. This has resulted in confusion engulfing the organisation in many respects and affecting service delivery and accountability amongst staff members. Employees are inveriably expected to be professional in their delivery to clients, however in many instances management is not quick to reciprocate to both internal staff and customers. There is great potential for growth albeit not channelled properly. People are often inundated with extra responsibilities but not adequately compensated for this extended role. The company is still despite the above, one of the best network providers to work for. They encourage self development and provide wonderful platforms in this regard.

"Good ICT company"
Added 18 Jul 2013 by a current employee
I have been working for MTN for almost four years now coming from STD bank. I must say, it is a very good company to work for. Lot of career growth, good salary structure and very innovative company. I like the fact that it is taking care of its employees, which is very important. I am currently studying Bcompt degree and intended to join the graduate programme within my company.

MTN is one of the best employers, when it comes to benefits. They look after their employees by providing good benefits, probably better than most companies.
Best companies to work for in the Telecommunications sector.
