MWEB was founded in 1997 and is South Africa’s second largest Internet Service Provider (ISP); they were also one of the first ISP’s to be established in the country and grew quickly from there. They are owned by Multichoice South Africa, a subsidiary of the media corporation Naspers. The MWEB Corporation encompasses two main divisions: MWEB Connect, which is focused on the residential and small business market, and MWEB Business (founded in 1998) which offers products and services for medium and large businesses. They currently have more than 350 000 ISP subscribers and 11 000 business clients. They operate throughout South Africa and have retail stores as well as offices in three major metropolitan areas: Cape Town (head office), Johannesburg and Durban. They boast of pioneering the “Free The Web SA” movement- an initiative to provide South Africans with affordable Uncapped ADSL packages.

I was very excited to join the company and all the good things were promised. It's a great company, great perks and a great team to work with, but there lies a problem with middle to senior management. I was sure I had joined a great team where I would stay and do my best while learning. I left there feeling lied to and shocked for days. I only stayed 4 months. It only turned out to be a nightmare and this has scared me for life cause I worry that every other company I go to for an interview is lying about the kind of environment they have and how they manage their staff. While I was there for 4 months, every month about 5 people joined and 5 left. It needs a serious turn around and new managers so all the backstabbing can stop and people trying to overthrow other people and favouritism between middle and senior managers. Proper interviews for managers must be held so they can ship the company back into business as the customers are getting affecting by all of this leaving the competitors to win them over.
Best companies to work for in the Information technology and services sector.
