"Hell! stay away"

Definitely not a good place to be. Cleaning staff get fired for using the showers? Treat people like roaches. They have a 100% Afrikaans boere seuns in management. Speaking with a British accent, because he went to the UK for a year and he refuses to speak to elderly Afrikaans speaking members in Afrikaans? They lie, cheat and rob members. No support from Head Office. Shocking salaries. Perhaps a visit or two from the department of labour would help. Don't even consider working here!

"Terrible Company"
Added 20 Aug 2013 by a current employee
Awful - hands down the worst company I have ever worked for. They are a 'profit first' type of organization and have no interest in their staff. I have spent many years in this industry only to be walking away very disgruntled and negative. They treat staff like disposable nappies. You will be constantly monitored, watched , audited, screamed at and yet receive no support, training or assistance from their head office. Yet, your days consist of being abused, threatened and shouted at by irate customers who are rightly very frustrated and need someone to vent on. Stay away, this is hell on earth.

Is no way a leader in the industry. They don't get the bigger picture. Happy staff = happy members. They will milk every last drop of blood out of staff and members. Staff having to work 13+ hour shifts, basically no overtime, no benefits (pension, medical etc). If the National Manager doesn't like a person, he will tell that individual's manager to find a reason to fire him. They don't grow staff, force sales to lie and cheat potential clients - and they don't even pay these guys a basic salary? This after sales works about 18 hours a day, 6 days per week! As a department head, I myself had to tell 2 people (after being given a better position) that they will have to go back to their previous position, because some big-shot at head office decided that they are not pretty enough for a front of house position. The nerve of this company wanting to force people to treat others like dirt. Members get cheated out of thousands of rands. Getting a child to sign a contract and then handing them over for R18000 gym fees at the age of 21? I resigned from Planet Fitness, because of the lack of respect that they have for other people, for how they force staff to work over 200hours a month for a salary of R2500, or staff working in childcare, who goes home with R1100 per month? Managers in this company gossip more than teenagers. My advice, if you want to be in the fitness Industry, go to Virgin Active. Planet Fitness is in no way a good company to work for. They will break down all your morals and values, one day at a time.

"Sales and Marketing Department"

I have worked for the company for three years as a Sales Consultant, then later, Assistant Sales Manager. The company pays no basic salary and only commission. You are expected to work from 08:30 to 20:00 in the evening as most of the clients would usually come in after work and you have to be at work every weekend as well. There's always a sales position available in all their clubs as new consultants usually work for one month and leave. After working for three years I resigned and only walked out with a sour taste in my mouth. I was making contributions every month but after resigning, I was told I worked as a commission earner so I got nothing. If you did not sign up 40+ new members you get R00.00 come pay day. You'll still be expected to come to work in the new month with your head held high. How do you cover your basic needs? (Transport, Rent, Food?)
Best companies to work for in the Health, wellness and fitness sector.
