First taking into account I was one of two males in an office of seven women. I must just say that I'm very happy to have survived my first corporate environment working experience. This office led by a tenacious woman, Samantha Deuchar had new experiences everyday. The sound of the phones dropping on the latch in the rhythmic sense was both cathartic and overwhelming at the same time. The intensity was infectious. Like Johannesburg, urgency was a key undertone. It felt like how it was meant to be, that if we were a television show, Don Cheadle and his group of consultants would have nothing on us (Rebmormax)! Sam would be The Fixer. My tasks in the office I completed diligently and consistently and were awarded with due recognition by our boss via LinkedIn and just in the office. So, too were the girls in the office whose roles were of course higher up on the chain of command than mine. The stamp of approval in the work environment is very important in maintaining morale and motivation to keep thriving. After all, "well done" have been known to be the best words ever invented. The office itself was designed in great taste. My personal favourites were the inspirational quotes printed on canvas hung up on the walls and secondly the corporate books available on the bookshelf there for anyone to read. Some of the titles included Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg, Wisdom by Andrew Zuckerman and Snakes in Suits by Robert Hare. These finer details along with art and a chalkboard-painted wall make a recognisable working environment difference. None of that ergonomics rubbish! MacBook Pro's were also a treat to work with. A great sign for me was the desire to be at the office on time AT 8 o'clock: no later. A cold winters morning didn't stop me from being there when I was supposed to. "The day will happen whether or not you get up." - Jon Ciardi. I've had two contingent stints for this company and they would have my commitment further should they so choose. Recruitment, talent management and sales is a tough gig and Rebmormax makes it its objective, to do so professionally and effectively.
