"Beware the 'Family' Culture"

RISA has bragged its family type culture, however, it is this very culture which has resulted in its inability to launch into a new era. As a result of employees who have been with the company for a very long time, the organisation fails to transform and embrace new ideas, leadership and expert skill. The existing cadre will ensure that any new talent will not exist by charging against them. Executive, are corrupt, with directors and their family profiting as service providers, which compromises employees who look up to their leaders. The company provides good learning in some levels, however, it is not consistent. Culture seems to be RISA's greatest weakness in transforming to an agile, competitor, with innovative services.

"Organisational Culture"

The organisational culture is one deeply entrenched in relationships, with employees ranging from recent to those who have worked for RISA for 30 years. It is a great environment for learning and growing manager sales teams and managers who can become formidable leaders when they exit. My caution is not to undermine exisiting relationships when joining RISA, it has loyalty which is not always in the interest of the organisation. I am grateful for my learnings at RISA.

"Company adrift"

As part of an international concern, the South African wing is governed by the same business ethics, organizational values and principles of the global concern. These values and ethics are admirable and well thought out, including fantastic people, development strategies , yet, when referring to the South African operation,you may find that they are practiced in theory only .Due to the entrenched culture & environment, combined with lack of leadership from top - down , staff are mostly left to operate in a vacuum of zero clarity & frail stability. To prospective employees; a word of caution... if you, as a hardworking, professional individual do not fare well with conforming to management, battle operating with limited information, support and resources, this may not be the company for you. Internally focused strife frequently derails excellent strategies, and has led to the loss of many value adding employees, in other words... be prepared to eat or to be eaten. Hard work will not be enough if you cannot navigate the challenging dynamics of older employees.
