Safripol was established in 1972 as a joint venture between Hoechst SA and Sentrachem LTD. In 1997 it was purchased by The Dow Chemical Company but by late 2006 the company was sold to ABSA Capital. Safripol is now owned by ABSA Capital, Thebe Investment Corporation and the Safripol management team led by Joaquin Schoch. ABSA Capital, with 49 percent in shares, is the largest shareholder of Safripol . Safripol is a leading manufacturer of two essential products used by the plastics conversion industry as its primary output: polypropylene (PP) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE). These polymers form the basis of virtually every plastic item produced. Safripol is characterised by the exceptional stability and high level of engagement of its workforce as well as advanced technology and the high quality of its products. In addition to supplying larger local converters directly Safripol distributes its products through Plastomark (PTY). Ltd Approximately 300 employees are based at our manufacturing plant in Sasolburg with a small team at the Headoffice in Bryanston.
