The year 1956 is the year that this Multi Billion Rand Company was born out of the vision of an old lady from the Eastern Cape, Mrs Greyvenstein affectionately known as Ouma Greyvenstein. Her son, Leon, decided to diversify the family business that had began in 1939 with Ouma Greyyensten’s Ouma Rusks. In 1952 Leon bumped into Herman Lay, who by then has been marketing chips for years. These two started talking and Leon came back to South Africa to start production on Simba chips. It was at this precise moment in time that Simba became a reality. South Africans were introduced for the very first time to the Simba Chippie. Throughout the years, Simba has always strived to bring a little flavour and fun to everyone that wanted to enjoy themselves, that is why Simba will always be the undisputed King of Snacks. Over the years, Simba has changed and evolved to reflect what is going on in South Africa. Simba is also part of the global FMCG giant PepsiCo International stable which specialises in snacks and beverages all over the world. Apart from being local, this is one of the reasons why Simba is able to bring you snacks that you want. Simba is one of South Africa’s leading snack brands. The company is also responsible for other household favourites including Lays, Doritos, NikNaks and Fritos, to name a few.

"Great Work Relationship"
Added 06 Jul 2015 by a current employee
When I started at Simba, I was welcomed with open arms. My co-workers treated me with respect and I felt at home. This is the reason why we all work so well together...because of that very first meeting.

I've learnt a lot since I started at Simba. I am amazed at my level of productivity now and also my management skills have been enhanced. The working environment is safe and the colleagues are great to work with.

"Too much admin"
Added 06 Jul 2015 by a current employee
I was a credit controller at Simba. I was required to do so much paper work and I felt like I was working in a call-centre environment. Older management had clashes with new management because they generally had different views on things.

"Boring Work"
Added 06 Jul 2015 by a current employee
I've been working for Simba for sixteen years now. Promotions came very easy. I was promoted to RSR then to LFR in a short time. Simba is generally a good company to work for. However, after you've worked for a company for long, the work becomes monotonous and boring.

It’s the most challenging working and results driven environment. Always expect the unexpected. Each department’s management is different. Co-workers keep you on your toes. Simba has a diverse workforce and we’re like a family.
