From the surface, Ster-Kinekor looks like a great company to work for, smiling staff, helpful managers and a few friendly regulars, but during my time with the company I witnessed first hand how ruthless and selfish the business is. When being employed, know that you agree to work X amount of hours when needed. That's exactly what would happen. Expect to work the worst hours, front-line staff controls and manages. You go to work hoping your colleagues pitch to relieve you after your shift, if they don't pitch, well, you agreed to stay didn't you? I, myself, at a controller level had that happen - working 4 days straight, from open of business till closing (9am - 1am), because the person who had to relieve me got injured and booked off. The company would also resort to illegal steps to get back at you. An ex employee whom I know was harassed by his new employee by Ster kinekor, which got him fired, he fought back and won a case, he shared the entire documented transcript. Be careful, he was dismissed for theft because the GM at the time when the money that went missing had a "gut feeling" it was him. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Also, expect to receive no support from higher management, they're quick to blame, but not to assist. There are constant mess-ups with front-line cashier payments, walking into any Ster-Kinekor and along them off the record, they can vouch for what I say. Complex managers suffer badly. If you a regular cinema goer, you would have noticed a new manager on average every 6 month's, because the pressure is too much for them. controllers suffer the same, one day off a week which you use to sleep and recover, your social life and family time will be no more. Ster kinekor will demand your commitment or leave, they not shy to give you that ultimatum. If you don't believe the above, take into account that I have more than 5 years service with them, worked at all southern suburb cinema's and survived!

I love the new self-help system, so easy to use and short queues.
Best companies to work for in the Motion pictures and film sector.
