"former store manager "
Added 21 Mar 2015 by a current employee
Studio88 is a profit driven company at the cost of their employees. They make them work long hours and their working conditions are horrible, as they have to be jack of all trades. They are cleaners, security guards and so forth. In their contract of employment there is a clause that says the company will move you anywhere at any time as long as you are employed by them. When they do that, the company will notify you today and say tomorrow you have to report to duty at another town. How you get there, is none of their business, where you going to stay, they don't care. In short, they don't care about the well being of their employees. Their general manager who is responsible for this following regions. KZN, Eastern Cape and Free State, has no humanity at all. He will shout at you in front of customers and insult you.

"Assistant Manager "
Added 21 Aug 2014 by a current employee
I was also an employee at Studio 88 for more than five years and for four of those years I was an assistant store manager, but my salary was the same as employees who had just joined the company. I agree with the other person who left a review, when it comes to salaries. At most stores, they work up to midnight and don't get any overtime paid. Another major factor is Security in the stores. People get fired when there are losses. How can a Salesman/woman give your customer good service when you need to be a security to the rest of the staff, customers, as well as the manager and a cleaner. There's no sort of security system to make sure there's no stealing and in the end, innocent people are losing their jobs. The worst part of all is that there is not even a staff eating area. We would have to eat in-between the boxes in the store room, not to mention that there are not much intervals. If u want to eat, eat and get back to the floor. That's the way it goes. There is a lot of corruption and back stabbing in the company, that is why there's no growth for employees. So just a hint to people considering to join the crew: "all that glitters is not gold." Ask the thousands that were kicked out.

"studio 88"

I am currently an employee of Studio 88. It is a large company solely interested in profits. How they achieve their profits is of no importance. As an employee at store level you are considered to be easily replaceable. The salary is below industry average. Personally, I would not advise it as a first option for employment, but more as a last resort. Salary slips are always a month to three months late.
Best companies to work for in the Retail sector.
