"Birthday Blues"

Well, this job adventure went from bad to ugly very quick. Being a chef is hard, but times were hard. I was struggling with money even when I got paid. We worked 13-14 hours a day, most times no break and no lunch. It was hard, but doable. 2 weeks before my birthday a waiter comes in and asked who owns a black golf? It has been broken into. Our cars were parked in a parking behind the kitchen on the property. They smashed my window and stole CDs and my girlfriend's brand new shoes we just bought on that day, which we had to leave in the car due to no lockers for staff. The GM said nothing, but 'what do you want me to say?' Fine, I can't do much so I crack on and do my job. It's now my birthday and feeling good about the day, because I was off the next day. I was asked to move my car when I parked it closer to entrance of restaurant, I tried my best but they made me move it. So I parked at the same parking as before. Around 12 at night, my girlfriend and I walked to my car and noticed that the car was not unlocked and with a shock to my heart it had been broken into again this time, cutting all my wires to my battery and stole everything! Work said nothing again and didn't even help me when I had no money to even fix the damages, which left me with financial problems until the day I resigned. They said its not their problem - I guess not, but they could try to help. The GM said we have a 'car guard on duty what more do you want?' Turns out the car guard is wanted for house robbery and theft, ahh nice... so most likely the car guard targeted my car. He knew we were working all day...I left that hole and never looked back and the overall problem was treating the chefs like we were nothing to them and they made that clear when they used kitchen tips to buy equipment.
Best companies to work for in the Hospitality sector.
