V&A Waterfront

V&A Waterfront is known as one of Africa’s most visited historical hubs. It is set among a natural working harbor with the iconic Table Mountain as its backdrop. The Waterfront offers its local and international visitors a cosmopolitan mixed-bag of experiences ranging from tourism and leisure, retail and shopping and exclusive entertainment. The V&A’s prime positioning (which boasts panoramic views of the ocean, city bowl and mountain peaks) has earned it numerous local and international awards. This is one of the reasons why, during peak season, up to 100 000 people visit every day. It has 22 official landmarks on-site, making it part of South Africa’s historical legacy. V&A Waterfront is jointly owned by Growthpoint Properties Limited and the Government Employees Pension Fund, represented by the Investment Corporation Limited. It was developed in 1988 by the state-owned transport corporation, Transnet Limited , and official commercial trading commenced in November 1990.
