An actor is commonly seen in theater, television and movies. Aside from performing on these forms of medium, actors also participate in radio programs and other audio mediums such as audio books. Their aim is to play a part or a character that would convey the story or message to their audience.
An actor's work is never the same as they are often required to play a different role in every project. Aside from actually performing, many actors are also involved in other areas of entertainment such as acting coach, director or writing materials.
Theater arts and related courses are often considered by those who wanted to be an actor. However, acting experience or training is more valued in the industry which is why many of the students in theater arts start their exposure as early as possible. Through training and education, they will learn how to impersonate a person, improvisation, acting based on a specific era and other related skills such as singing and/or dancing.
Although many actors aspire to be in Hollywood, this is not the only place to excel as an actor. There are other actors who found work not necessarily in front of the camera or audience. In major cities, a job as an acting coach is a possibility. Graduates of theater arts can also work as school teachers for students who wanted to start in drama while still in high school. Other actors have also learned to direct movies and stage plays.
Many actors that work as extras or smaller roles in films and theater are often paid for every project. Some actors produce independent films where they practically finance everything and earn from their film. There is also an option for some actors to start an acting class or become an agent for actors who are constantly seeking roles for film and theater.
