Job Title: Field Technician – Food Processing Industry

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician to support our customers in the food processing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing and servicing magnet systems, metal detectors, AI optical sorters, and X-ray machines. This role requires a combination of hands-on technical work, data capture and reporting, and the ability to design and develop magnetic systems using AutoCAD Inventor.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Installation, Commissioning & Servicing:
• Install, commission, and service AI optical sorters, X-ray machines, magnet systems, metal detectors and validations in food processing facilities.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on these systems.
• Conduct on-site performance tests to ensure optimal system functionality.
• Handle and transport heavy equipment, ensuring safe lifting practices.

Testing & Data Management:
• Perform magnet system and metal detector tests, capturing and analyzing relevant test data.
• Generate detailed reports on system performance and provide recommendations for improvement.

Design & Development:
• Use AutoCAD Inventor to design and develop systems for food processing applications.
• Generate manufacturing drawings and collaborate with production teams to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

Customer Support & Documentation:
• Provide technical support and training to customers on the use and maintenance of sorting and detection equipment.
• Maintain clear and professional customer records in Zoho CRM.
• Ensure all service documentation, test results, and maintenance logs are accurately recorded.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Industry Knowledge: Experience in the food processing industry with a focus on quality control.
• Technical Expertise: Ability to test, install, commission, and service AI optical sorters, metal detectors, magnet systems, and X-ray machines.
• Experience: Some experience in installing and/or maintaining machinery.
• Design & Engineering: Proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor for designing systems and generating manufacturing drawings.
• Data & Reporting: Ability to capture, analyze, and report on test data accurately.
• Language Skills: English and Afrikaans.
• Software Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Zoho CRM.
• Driving License: A valid driver’s license is required for travel to customer sites. Own transport required.
• Physical Fitness: Must be physically fit, as some equipment is heavy and requires handling.
• AI Interest: A keen interest in AI-driven technologies and their applications in food processing.
