SUMMARY

Manganese Metal Company (“MMC”), based in Mbombela (Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province), is the world’s largest producer of 99.9% electrolytic manganese metal (“EMM”). The company has been in operation since 1974, has a unique global marketing network and is a niche market supplier of EMM to an established international customer base.
We supply more than 120 customers in over 20 countries and our systems, equipment, safe operating philosophy and excellent business practices provide our customers with peace of mind, first-class quality and reliable supply. Our products are used in the top-end of the market, in the aluminium, steel, non-ferrous alloys, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, chemicals and welding consumable industries.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
MMC aims to provide opportunities to suitably qualified candidates to gain work experience within their field of study whilst contributing to the overall development of those talented individuals.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE OPPORTUNITY
At MMC, the selected candidates will develop core skills and competencies in a rapidly paced discipline with extensive coaching by mentors with technical and plant specific training. This is a valuable opportunity for talented candidates with the relevant qualifications to gain work experience within MMC. This is a rare opportunity that will allow the successful candidates to put their acquired knowledge and skills into practice as a perfect grounding for a career in Engineering with a specific focus on PLC’s and the integration of system control via PLC’s (Schneider) and SCADA (Adroit) systems. To achieve the required integration, a strong command of PLC programming languages such as Ladder, Function block, Statement list etc is needed.

MMC EXPECTATIONS
Candidates should:
• Provide own accommodation and transport for the entire duration of the training period.
• Be available and committed to the entire duration of the 24-month training period and comply with the conditions of the contractual agreement.
• Be available to work shifts.
• Abide by all MMC’s policies and procedures and contribute towards the company goals and motto of creating strength during this period.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
You must have completed one of the following qualifications to be considered for the opportunity:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering (Light current)
• B-Tech Degree in Electrical Engineering (Light current).
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics
• Bachelor’s degree Control Systems Engineering
