Our client within the FMCG space has requirement for Head of Operations – skills sets from Manufacturing background with experience in Polymer / Extrusion
POSITION
Head of Operations
LOCATION

Package:
R1.5 Mill – R2Mill
Purpose of Role:
To oversee and organise the daily operational/production activities with respect to the overall business planning of the operations
Manage all production resources and related activities in an efficient manner/inline with company’s goals and ambitions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate equipment or plant with all safety systems. No bypassing any safety control or system
Manufacture product following all control parameters specified to make product meeting all production specifications
Draft production plan on a weekly / monthly basis to meet demand plan every month to maximise number of orders delivered on time and in full (OTIF)
Collaborate with planner to procure & issue materials for use to meet production plan following bills
Correct any bills of material periodically to reflect the performance
Plan manpower to meet production plan with proper controls on overtime
Actively participate in & ensure timely & accurate stock taking , whilst implementing strong control measures
Drive site efficiency plans in material waste, manpower / machine productivity, utility optimisation, process improvement
Drive quality improvement initiatives
Implement preventive maintenance on machines to extend MTBF & reduce MTTR & reduce maintenance costs, with the engineering team
Carry out product / process trials in plant as per requirement for new product or product improvement
Conduct skill gap analysis for immediate team & blue collar employees along with HR and create skill upgradation plan & action
Use SAP for production reporting and data analysis
Trouble shooting problems [production, maintenance, quality, etc] to arrive at root causes
Track & monitor progress of projects
Monitor CU of plant and recommend & implement capacity debottlenecking projects.
Other accountabilities
On the job training of staff where required
Hands-on on production reporting and data extraction
Trend monitoring & statistical analysis
Dealing promptly with any worker grievances that may occur
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records such as time sheets, attendance registers,
Minimum Requirements:
Degree or diploma in Production/Operations Management
Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in manufacturing environment
Polymer/Extrusion experience is essential
FMCG manufacturing
Talent development and people management
Knowledge of operational machinery and maintenance thereof
