This Large JV Contractor is involved with the construction of this major cantilever balanced bridge which forms part of the greater N2WCTR project.
The 1.13-km-long bridge, which includes a 260-m-long main span, will be one of the longest main-span-balanced cantilever bridges in the world. Reaching heights of more than 220 m above the river valley, it will displace the Bloukrans Bridge, in the Western Cape, as the highest bridge in Africa and the southern hemisphere.

Consequently, the construction of the prestigious bridge is technically a highly challenging project, with its remote location and local social dynamics adding its complexity.

The contractor is looking for a suitably qualified HSE Manager who can work at height etc on an Incrementally launched cantilever bridge.

Requirements

• Registration with SACPCMP (or proof of submission then an evaluation shall take place to ensure the candidate meets the requirements)
• At least 8 years’ experience as a Safety Advisor on construction projects of a similar nature.
• Successful completion of a Supervisors training course.
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Regulations including the 2014 Construction Regulations
• Qualification in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk management processes (HIRA).
• Sound knowledge of incident causation phenomena
• Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 and Regulations including the 2014 Construction Regulations
• Sound knowledge of SANS 10085
• Knowledge of the Mines Health and Safety Act
• Valid First Aid Certificate level 1.
• Valid SAQA Accredited Fall Arrest Certificate US 229998 & IWH accredited training
• Valid SAQA Accredited Fall Protection Plan Developer US 229994 & IWH accredited training
