OVERVIEW:
The New Business Development lead in the Sourcing Department is responsible for overseeing and coordinating sourcing-related projects within the business. This role involves managing cross-functional teams, ensuring timely delivery of sourcing initiatives, and optimizing supplier relationships to support product development, cost efficiency, and market competitiveness.
JOB PURPOSE:
Is to drive and oversee sourcing-related projects within the business, ensuring alignment with business objectives such as cost optimization, quality enhancement, and timely delivery. This role serves as a bridge between the sourcing team, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring that sourcing initiatives are executed efficiently with speed to market and positively contribute to the company’s competitive edge in the market.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
By managing projects related to supplier onboarding, product launches, or supply chain improvements, the New Business Lead plays a critical role in:
• Enabling Product Innovation: by executing on sourcing strategy which has been informed by the business and brand strategy.
• Enhancing Operational Efficiency: Streamlining processes to reduce costs and improve lead times.
• Mitigating Risks: Proactively identifying and addressing sourcing challenges or delays in project timelines
• Driving Collaboration: Aligning cross-functional teams to deliver on shared goals.
• Supporting Strategic Growth: Contributing to long-term sourcing strategies that align with business growth plans.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Planning and Execution:
o Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. o Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure goals are met. o Track progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines.
• Supplier Coordination:
o Collaborate with suppliers to ensure alignment on project requirements, timelines, and quality standards.
o Support the onboarding of new suppliers and manage relationships for project-specific needs.
o Understanding of inco-terms and tariff HS codes
• Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Work closely with quality, procurement, and marketing teams to ensure sourcing strategies align with product development and market goals.
o Act as a liaison between the sourcing team and other departments to resolve projectrelated challenges.
• Risk Management:
o Identify potential risks in the sourcing and supply chain processes and develop mitigation plans.
o Monitor project dependencies and implement contingency plans as needed.
• Cost and Quality Optimization:
o Ensure projects deliver cost efficiencies while meeting or exceeding quality and performance standards.
o Drive initiatives to improve sourcing processes and reduce lead times.
• Tracking, Reporting and Documentation:
o Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including timelines, budgets, and performance metrics.
o Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project status and key milestones. o Track savings, negotiations and compensation where necessary o Preparation of trip folders and supplier reviews
o Manage sourcing databases
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. (PMP certification is a plus)
• 3–5 years of project management experience, preferably in sourcing, procurement, or supply chain within the appliances or consumer goods industry.
• Familiarity with supplier management and product development processes.
