We're seeking an Operations Control Manager (Banking Sector) - 4 months Contract - Rosebank (Gauteng).

Job Purpose:
Partner and support stakeholders within parameters of assigned Operations Team to effectively implement and manage the Control environment to contain losses and minimize non-financial risk.

Duties & Responsibilities
Financial management Adhere to financial policies and processes and provide inputs to opportunities for cost efficiencies.
Identify, evaluate and map risks Regularly conduct Risk Control Self Assessments in collaboration with relevant stakeholders within assigned operations team and NFR Team to identify gaps, escalate issues, and establish or adjust controls where necessary to minimize risk and losses to CIB Operations.
Implement Control frameworks and tools within assigned Operations Team and monitor to ensure reporting is complete and accurate, control data sets correctly reflect the control environment and the underlying Control process supporting the control framework is operating optimally.
Incident Management Detect and investigate Control failures (process and operational failures relating to materiality levels 4 and 5), capture and enrich information, escalate issues, conduct root cause analysis and failure remediation to prevent re-occurrence.
Operational excellence Identify and report incidents and issues, provide input to technological enhancement, recommend continuous improvement initiatives and implement process improvements to ensure infrastructure stability within Control Department to ensure delivery of high-quality service.
Prioritise and manage own work to deliver assigned tasks and take responsibility for own development and career progression.
Pro-actively monitor, track and remediate risks Implement and track KRIs within assigned operations team to measure risk and identify trends to enable early identification and remediation / mitigation of risk.
Provide data-driven insights Gather and analyse relevant data, perform trend analysis via monthly dashboards and other reporting mechanisms to provide early identification of potential risks and trends and share insights within Operations Control and stakeholders within assigned Operations Team.
Provide specialist Control knowledge and guidance to assist the assigned Operations Team to interpret Controls analysis and reports, effectively implement Controls Frameworks and tools and contribute to Controls assurance.
Reporting and management information Implement and maintain reporting mechanisms for risk and control performance indicators, exceptions, trends, and operational incidents, enrich data completeness and accuracy to keep internal stakeholders informed and identify opportunities for improvement.
Stakeholder engagement Establish and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to facilitate effective implementation of Controls frameworks and tools and collaborative problem solving within assigned Operations Team.
Support business through the audit lifecycle Support the audit process and track remedial actions to conclusion to drive timely closure of Audit findings within assigned Operations Team.
Support Operations Teams to understand and implement Control Frameworks and build their ability to identify and mitigate risk.
Value chain integration Provide inputs to continuous improvement and optimization of Controls delivery based on insights gained in Operations Team environment.

Advanced Diploma / First Degree
1 - 4 Years
Ability to apply Risk and Control frameworks. Problem solving – innovation and process design thinking. Reconciliations and balance sheet substantiation
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of risk management methodologies, tools, governance structures and regulatory requirements for good management of risk.
Operations, Risk or ProductFinancial services – operational Operations Control – exposure to industry standards and alignment of control processes to these standards.
