A client is looking for a Production Manager to join their team.

The Production Manager will oversee the day-to-day activities of the Production Business unit, ensuring that it is managed and performed efficiently and effectively.

The Production Manager is responsible for the strategic operational management of all resources in terms of Human Resources
Finances Assets Management.

Further to this, the ideal candidate will, through conceptualizing, constructing, analyzing & measuring required business output, manage and hold relevant parties accountable.

Objectives of this role:
• Growing the Production Units and Leading long-term change
• Using Platforms and Reports, effectively and efficiently to manage all production resources
• Improving operational efficiencies by streamlining processes, reducing costs and increasing productivity to improve overall profitability
• Continually grow and develop a talented workforce, in depth and succession, through building a strong company culture.
• Creating opportunities for employee growth and development.
• Enhancing innovation, through problem solving, research and development, capital investments and expansions
• Develop and maintain production output, functional organization structures and ways of working, that lead to Prime Production Units

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Hiring and training of Farm managers and Supervisors.
• Planning, directing, organizing and oversee the work and schedules of Farm Managers.
• Analyzing, measuring and controlling production output, reports and budgets, and holding everyone responsible and accountable
• Conducts performance evaluations of Farm Managers and Supervisors that are timeous and constructive.
• Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Strategic Planning and Schedule development for all crops and resources.
• Manage Human Resources, Finances (Budgets) & Assets, for the Production Business unit.
• Organizing and overseeing that all schedules and planning is executed, timeous, effective, efficient and sustainable, through analyses, measure output and holding it accountable.
• Allocating the company’s resources, materials, Labor and equipment effectively and efficiently
• Devise strategies to ensure the growth and sustainability of growing crops, by implementing processes and improvements, to maximize output and minimize costs.
• Increasing income / profitability while decreasing expenses.
• Setting of business objectives and organizational goals for the Production Business Unit.
• Plan, direct, control, implement, evaluate, monitor, and forecast, budgets and cost of all resources in the production Business Unit to achieve financial objectives.
• Liaison between farm operations, business systems, office and Executive Management.
• Directing the Production Unit by, supervising, motivating, leading and communication.
• Influence and guide the subordinates to achieve Business Units’ objectives.
• Develop processes and procedures for setting standards, norms or KPIs for desired performance, that measure the performance and take corrective actions, on deviations and variances.
• Developing Standard Operating procedures for the Production Business Unit that aligns to business objectives and standards.
• Develop reports and controls and enable the best management of the Business Unit.
• Ensuring that Staffing and Resourcing for the Business Unit is of best standard.
• Proper selection of candidates for positions, proper remuneration; proper training and development, to enable staff to function in their organizational functions effectively
• Ensure that effective performance evaluation of all personnel is conducted.
• Manage that correct processes and procedures are uphold for all areas of the business units according to business standards
• Ensuring that Asset Care and Maintenance for the Business Unit is of best standard.
• Developing and managing preventative management schedules, quality of work and costing of asset maintenance.
• Controlling and managing output by, determining standards to measure work performance
• Measurement of actual performance by comparing actual performance with set standards.
• Evaluating the variances and the reasons for variances.
• Taking corrective actions to ensure attainment of objectives.
• Lead special projects such as water rights, irrigation, etc.

Education and Experience:
• BSc in relevant field e.g. degree in agriculture and crop production
• Degree in Business management would be advantageous
• 5 years extensive and diversified background of related experience in primary production and business operations.
• 1 year experience in developing budgets and business plans, and growth strategies
• 1 year knowledge/exposure of cost efficiency drivers and resource management
• Working knowledge of data analysis, performance and operations metrics
• Previous Crop Production experience with vegetables using precision farming techniques, technology and equipment and crop irrigation.

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to travel long distances to do production site visits
• May need to do in-field evaluations and outdoor activities
