Project /Construction Manager - Asphalt (Durban, KZN)
An Asphalt/Surfacing Construction company operating throughout KwaZulu Natal & Eastern Cape sub-contracting to major Roads Construction companies is looking for a suitably experienced Project /Construction Manager with a sound knowledge of Surfacing and in particular Asphalting.
Qualifications:
• Relevant Qualification or Experience
• Operational experience in the surfacing/Asphalt environment with a minimum of 8 years Asphalt/Surfacing Experience.
• Must be Computer Literate.
Requirements:
You will have Overall management of two asphalt teams. Both teams have good foreman as well as a minimum exposure to the following works is required:
• Pre –Treatment Works – Asphalt Patching, Crack Sealing and all types of ancillary works such as Kerbs, storm water drainage, Line Marking,
Gabions etc.
• Excellent Customer Relationship building skills
• Good communication skills – written and verbal
• Good Planning & Organising skills
• The ability to show initiative in solving problems
• Willingness to perform above and beyond job requirements in order to achieve Company/Team objectives
• The ability to accept a high level of responsibility/accountability for completing tasks that might place heavy demands on your time and
involvement
• The ability to be a positive influence on the team by creating a productive, safe environment
• Flexibility – willingness to relocate, or to spend time away from the home base as dictated by operational requirements
Responsibilities:
• Project Management
• Day to day planning with the foreman
• Management of staff
• Site HSE Supervision Experience
• Site Quality Control so that company achieves compaction and ride ability.
• Making sure all Admin is done correctly by the clerks and that the quantities have been agreed and signed off by the client
• Knowledge of In-situ and In-plant activities, road layer works and earthworks would be and added advantage.
• Operations – production planning, ensuring all resources are available
• Doing monthly payment certificates and submitting them in time for payment
• Managing fuel usage
• Overseeing the plant and making sure the workshop knows about any potential problems.
• Ensuring production targets are met and overtime is minimised while maintaining production.
• Weekly programs and progress reports to director.
• Assist director in obtaining work.
• The candidate must be willing to travel at times to spend time on our sites.
• Must be willing to work some Saturdays as and when required. We try and minimise weekend work as much as possible.
• Administration duties relating to the above
