OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE:
This incumbent will be responsible for selling all the company’s products directly to customers in an area allocated to them. This will include allocated customers and national retail chains in their allocated areas. The area allocated may also include day trips which may necessitate overnight accommodation, this is over and above the country trip. The incumbent will be given a set budget to achieve to ensure the company will achieve maximum sales profitability. The sales representative will need to grow current accounts in the allocated areas as well as investigate new opportunities and open new accounts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Attain personal budget (GP Maintained/Increased)
• Develop, maintain and improve business relationships with customers of the company
• Ensure customer satisfactory levels are achieved
• Calling on existing clients in their allocated area
• Calling on new clients in their allocated area
• Follow up on sales leads
• Follow up on outstanding orders
• Provide forecasts on sales by customer by product
• Establish new accounts by organizing and planning daily work schedule to build on existing or potential customers
• Update calling cycle regularly to ensure all customers in area is called on monthly
• Finding new clients and opening accounts
• Daily call reports to be completed and submitted each day.
• Call cycle reports are to be sent through daily. The call cycle reports are to be handed in on the same day or latest by 9am the following morning.
• Monthly area account feedback to be given to the sales manager
• The sales rep to have a comprehensive knowledge of the specialty's offerings and is responsible for the success of those offerings within the division
• The incumbent is expected to have in-depth sales, business and professional skills to work with any level of customer management
• Work with a perspective beyond the assigned territory, this professional provides input to sales objectives and strategies for the business
• From time to time the individual will be required to work after hours and weekends as required by the business
• Stock management (sales and returns)
• Customer training
• Product knowledge
• Organize customer evenings and shows
• All administration is to be up to date (Reports to H/O to be completed timeously)
• Investigate problems, prepare reports, develop solutions and make recommendations to management to resolve customer complaint
• All sales staff are to comply with the dress code policy
• Attend weekly sales meeting
• Assist the debtor’s department with the collection of payments and account queries applicable to your area
• Ensure all goods that are returned for credit are accompanied by the necessary documentation and are returned to the warehouse.
• Assist with urgent deliveries when requested by management
• Take samples to show the customer (if required) placing samples onto the sample account and crediting this account once the samples are returned.
EDUCATION/SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Matric
• At least 4 years’ experience in sales
• Key Metrics include Target Achievement and Margin determination
• Proven customer Relationships
• Valid Code 8 Drivers License with no endorsements
• Own licensed roadworthy vehicle
