We are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Risk Manager (Permanent) for our Sandton (Gauteng) location. The role involves overseeing credit and investment risk assessments within the organisation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Process credit proposals and compile independent Credit Submission Reports for funding applications to Credit Committees.
Evaluate assessments with thorough and rigorous testing of base case assumptions provided by clients or client-facing teams, offering independent attestation on the merits of business cases.
Request amendments to proposed terms, such as gearing/leverage requirements, default covenants, cash sweep mechanisms, or adjustments to tenors, when necessary.
Address issues across the credit management cycle, ensuring annual reviews are completed by CSG, risk grades are updated, and proactive support is provided to clients ahead of distress. This ensures portfolio credit quality is improved, concentration is avoided, and earnings and growth are enhanced.
Provide independent credit and investment assessments for submissions to approval committees, exercise sound credit judgment, and make recommendations within Service Level Agreements.
Perform risk grading of Business Partners using in-house credit risk tools and models, offering constructive views on the outcomes.
Ensure adherence to credit policies, procedures, and alignment with the Credit Risk Appetite Strategy, considering group counterparty concentration guidelines.
Take responsibility for final sign-off on all risk ratings, ensuring a consistent rating approach across all entities and applying overrides when needed.
Offer guidance and support during Deal Development Forums (DDF), serving as a sounding board throughout the credit process.
Promote reasoned, impartial approaches that encourage participation and challenge in credit risk mitigation proposals, and ensure accountability for deal and investment pricing.
Prepare and present submissions at sanctioning committees, responding to queries as required.
Provide consistent support, guidance, and interpretation of credit and investment principles throughout the credit cycle (cradle to grave).
Independently evaluate annual credit reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and provide oversight as needed.
Guide teams on follow-up actions, ensuring incorporation into the redesign or renewal of credit and investment proposals/templates.
Ensure breaches or potential breaches are addressed in a timely manner.
