In this role, you will ensure their availability, performance, security, and consistency to support mission-critical business applications, contributing to the organisation’s vision of delivering innovative solutions and driving sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management: Create and maintain business database objects within IDMS and DB2 subsystems.
Optimisation: Perform database tuning to ensure optimal DBMS performance.
Maintenance: Schedule and execute database maintenance tasks.
Troubleshooting: Resolve database and DBMS errors promptly to support business operations.
Strategic Input: Contribute to operational strategies, implement industry best practices, and ensure adherence to ITO governance.
Monitoring: Continuously monitor databases to ensure optimal data access and availability in line with SLAs.
Consultation: Provide database design solutions and consultation for business development and service management initiatives.
Disaster Recovery: Be a key player in the DR team, responsible for designing, performing, and documenting DR procedures.
Incident Management: Address incidents, changes, and requests to ensure SLA compliance.
Security: Enforce database security standards to maintain integrity and prevent data compromise.
Reporting: Provide managerial reports on database utility, capacity, and usage to support informed decision-making.
Supplier Liaison: Maintain effective relationships with suppliers for incident handling and resolution.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in IT.
Minimum of 8 years in the IT industry, with at least 5 years as an operational DBA in a large corporate environment.
20 years of experience in mainframe operating system concepts and experience in another mainframe discipline.
Participation in disaster recovery (DR) exercises.
4 years of experience working with IDMS/DB2 databases.
