POSITION
Senior Electrical Engineer
LOCATION
Nairobi, Kenya

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop renewable energy systems in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Conduct site inspections to accurately design and estimate new projects.
Prepare budgets for proposed new projects.
Create detailed drawings for informational and construction purposes.
Perform all necessary calculations and documentation required for utility approval.
Generate as-built drawings.
Measure and prepare bills of quantities for installations.
Accurately simulate system performance and/or production.
Participate in the commissioning team on-site during project commissioning.
Assist with engineering-related operations and maintenance issues.
Aid in the creation of design tools for the engineering department.
Support the Project Manager with engineering-related project issues.
Lead a design team consisting of Project Engineers, Interns, and Draughtsman to complete designs.
Review designs created by project engineers and interns.
Professionally approve designs to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
Officially sign off on plants for regulatory and standards compliance
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum qualification of B. Eng, BSc. Eng, or B. Tech Eng in Electrical Engineering.
Holds a valid T3 Solar Photovoltaic Technician License (other certifications will be considered).
Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya as a Professional Engineer.
Experience living and working in Africa, ideally for 1-2 years minimum.
Proven track record with at least 5 years in similar engineering roles, specifically related to solar PV, CHP, battery energy storage, wind, and green hydrogen.
Capability to work across multiple disciplines and manage several projects concurrently.
Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices (e.g., IEC, KEBS, SANS).
