SUMMARY

The HSE Manager needs to lead the SHEQ Team in providing an integrated SHEQ function to the site and to influence Site Management to embed a culture of SHEQ excellence

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote SHEQ awareness concerning local Law Regulations and Group Standards and requirements
Improve the SHEQ Performance and continuously update and ensure adherence to all SHEQ policies
Attend Project review meetings
Developing effective SHEQ risk management and driving continuous improvement towards a zero-harm working environment.
Executing the group and business SHEQ strategy and driving commitment to Responsible Care principles
Assuring SHEQ compliance
Developing and planning SHEQ risk assessments
Monitoring and improving the effectiveness of SHEQ controls
Assuring SHEQ workplace and legal compliance.
Conducting SHEQ incident investigations, root cause analysis and facilitation of learning
Ensuring certification and effectiveness of SHEQ management systems (e.g. ISO 45001, ISO 14001 ISO 9001, PSM and Responsible Care).
Monitoring and reporting on SHEQ performance
Planning and monitoring SHEQ training
Managing the SHEQ team’s performance and budget

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Relevant Diploma or Degree
Professional Designation will be advantageous
10 years’ experience with at least 5 years’ experience in Safety Management
Knowledge of work-related hazards and associated risks
Understanding of human behaviour and the impact of cultural differences on human behaviour
Knowledge of plant processes standards and procedures (including HR policies)
Knowledge of relevant safety legislation, i.e. Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and COID Act
International Standards (ISO), i.e. OHSAS45001, ISO9001, ISO14001
Facilitation, report writing and auditing skills
How to conduct a root cause/fault tree analysis (investigation skills)
Verbal and written communication skills (internal and external)
