Our prestigious client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Portfolio Manager to oversee and guide a portfolio of initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and delivering measurable business value. This pivotal role requires a strong background in strategy, portfolio management, and project governance, along with proven leadership abilities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive strategic impact, oversee execution processes, and deliver innovation and value to the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Program/Portfolio Management:
Oversee project delivery using best practices and methodologies.
Translate strategic goals into a prioritized roadmap of initiatives.
Act as a subject matter expert in program and project management.
Leadership & Direction:
Communicate strategic objectives and align team efforts to achieve them.
Oversee the execution of initiatives and ensure measurable outcomes.
Develop and monitor execution and value realization plans.
Enterprise Business Analysis:
Partner with business leaders to address priority impact areas.
Recommend solutions to business problems and drive improvement efforts.
Stakeholder Management:
Develop and execute strategies for stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
Foster productive working relationships across project and program levels.
Budgeting & Costing:
Develop and manage portfolio budgets with a focus on efficiency and reuse strategies.
Project Benefit Realization:
Track and evaluate business benefits to ensure value delivery.
Review program outcomes against strategic goals and identify opportunities for improvement.
Governance & Compliance:
Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and decision-making processes.
Coordinate applicable governance forums to align projects with strategic objectives.
Team Management & Resource Planning:
Lead project teams, define project visions, and provide mentorship.
Forecast and allocate resources based on project needs.
Portfolio Reporting & Review:
Provide accurate reporting and insights for stakeholders at agreed review points.
Innovation Strategy:
Drive innovation initiatives aligned with strategic objectives.
Risk & Issue Management:
Identify and address risks, dependencies, and constraints to ensure project success.
Behavioral Competencies:
Balances stakeholders’ needs effectively.
Plans and aligns work with organizational objectives.
Optimizes work processes for continuous improvement.
Manages complexity and ensures accountability within teams.
Communicates effectively across diverse audiences.
Builds collaborative partnerships and fosters teamwork.
Required Skills:
Advanced expertise in portfolio and project management methodologies.
Proficient in resource planning, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
Solid understanding of IT systems, business capability modeling, and innovation management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or IT.
Certifications in Portfolio/Program Management (e.g., PMI PgMP).
Master’s degree (MBA) and certifications like PfMP or P3O.
Experience:
Minimum 10 years in project management with leadership over multiple initiatives.
At least 5 years in portfolio management and team leadership.
Proven experience in setting up strategic PMOs or portfolio offices.
