OVERVIEW OF ROLE:
The Supply Chain Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain planning process, ensuring efficient and cost-effective supply of products in key territories. This role plays a crucial role in partnering with New Business Development to source equipment, goods, and services. It involves co-ordinating supply chain activities, demand planning, and overseeing shipping logistics to meet organisational needs, while managing vendors through negotiating contracts and product prices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement supply chain strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of finished products, components and parts.
• Manage the supply chain planning process, including demand forecasting, inventory management, and production planning.
• Lead, coach and develop supply planners to ensure that the right products are available at the right time to meet customer demand, and that inventory levels are managed in line with company objectives.
• Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers to ensure the best possible prices and agreements.
• Monitor supplier performance and maintain strong relationships to ensure quality and reliability.
• Co-ordinate with internal departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels.
• Develop & lead the Integrated Business Planning Process/S&OP for the business, integrating demand forecast to supply forecasts and linking to company financial goals (revenue, gross profit, working capital management).
• Coach & manage the demand planner to analyse historical data and market trends to forecast future demand, working closely with sales, marketing, and finance teams to align demand forecasts with business objectives.
• Ensure that the best in class statistical and analytical tools are used to develop accurate demand plans.
• Identify potential supply chain disruptions and develop contingency plans.
• Oversee the shipping process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, ensuring smooth co-ordination with logistics providers to optimise shipping routes and reduce costs.
• Coach & manage the Logistics Co-ordinator to manage import documentation and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
• Monitor and report on shipping performance and address any issues promptly.
• Implement best practices to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of shipping logistics operations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field.
• Proven experience & results in supply chain management and procurement.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in procurement, supply chain roles.
• Proven experience in working within a well developed and functioning IBP/S&OP process.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities proficiency in demand forecasting software.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Experience with Sage X3 and Netstock systems will be advantageous.
