SUMMARY
Reporting to the Operations Executive.
One of our trusted chemical manufacturing clients seeks to appoint a Warehouse and Transport Manager for their Durban branch. The successful candidate will manage the warehouse, transport, monitor SHEQ performance for all areas under your control, and manage stock cycle counts and quarterly stock takes. Ensure all costs are controlled, variances highlighted, and over-expenditure planned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervision of resources including staff.
Management of the transport function: – manage and achieve cost efficiencies and pricing. – comparative cost models of internal costs v external costs of transport management. – forecast of monthly transport costs. – monitor and manage transport risks. – manage vehicle maintenance. – manage forklift utilisation and contacts in the event of breakdowns.
Warehouse management: – manage stock cycle counts and quarterly stock takes for all sites simultaneously. – track and control aged and expired stock. – standardization of warehouse systems and processes across all sites. – Implementation and management of stock systems ensuring appropriate stock movement controls are in place.
Experience with barcoding and scanning is an advantage.
Ensure adherence to ISO9000 and 14001 policies and procedures.
Manage and monitor SHEQ performance for all areas under your control.
Administration: – ensure all costs are controlled, variances highlighted, and over-expenditure planned. – negotiate with suppliers/manufacturers/retailers for logistics providers and inbound supply of raw materials. – manage the annual budget for the transport and warehouse function
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Matric and Degree in Supply Chain and/or Logistics
Minimum of 10 years in the logistics/supply chain field with 5 years staff management.
Logistics, transportation, and warehousing management experience preferably in a chemical manufacturing environment
Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment is advantageous.
