JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: Machine Inspections, Modifications, Overhaul, Section Planning, SHE, Job Costing and Financial &General Administration, Contracts/Supplier Management, Customer Liaison & Change Management, Corporate Governance, Financial Management, Human Capital Management, New Machine. Deliveries and Pre-Delivery Inspections, Parts, and Inventory management for repairs and
maintenance, Physical Workshop Management (in addition to service, inventory control & inspections)
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):
• Ensure proper handover.
• Oversee correct diagnoses of faults and repairs on all earthmoving equipment.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on earthmoving equipment to company standards.
• Carry out all minor and major services.
• Conduct Pit stops and report any deviations to the Line manager.
• Check machines and carry out repairs that are required.
• Plan and schedule work for your team.
• Submit breakdown reports on every breakdown before end of shift.
• Report all breakdowns to management.
• Complete daily and weekly inspection sheets and advise notes. Report any deviations to the Line manager.
• Ordering of spares required for repair, maintenance and services and continuously follow up on delivery of said spares and labour.
• Performance management and coaching of subordinates.
• Monitor and measure daily efficiencies.
• Ensure plant availability of 90%.
• Apply the necessary quality assurance methods and procedures according to the quality management system, specifications, and legislation.
• Apply and monitor the aspects of preventative maintenance.
• Coordinate services of all equipment and plant.
• Read and interpret workshop manuals and parts book for each machine being serviced or repaired.
• Adhere to all safety instructions as laid out on site.
• Update 2.9.2 file daily.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly inspections.
• Conduct regular PJO’s on your team.
• Ensure housekeeping is done correctly in your area of responsibility.
• Ensure shift bakkie is clean and maintained properly.
• Report all incidents and near misses to your line manager.
• Ensure Works Orders are collected and completed before end of shift.
• Do planning with PMC Site Supervisors daily and report all deviations to them. Any reporting must be traceable.
• Manage and report teams HR issues and or resolve it or report to Line Manager. Follow up continuously.
• To initiate all relevant disciplinary actions and Co-ordinate leave schedules of employees.
• Control staff and quality of work always and responsible to control and discipline all employees under your control
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12
• Qualified Artisan – Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Qualification
• Mechanical Engineering Qualification
EXPERIENCE:
• At least 3 years Supervisory work experience (other jobs that prepared you for this job).
• 6 Years as Earthmoving Mechanic.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Mechanical and technical skills.
• Sound knowledge of service and maintenance on Earth Moving Equipment Dump trucks, FEL, Grader, Excavator, Dozer and Skid steer.
• Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act.
• Planning skills and execution of planning.
• Diagnostic ability.
• Must be a problem solver.
• Work on your own without supervision.
