I have a deep passion for healthcare and pharmacy. I completed my bachelor of pharmacy (BPharm) degree at the end of 2016 at Nelson Mandela University in Gqeberha (PE), South Africa. I was awarded a bursary and academic scholarship awards which allowed me to study and facilitated my start in the pharmacy environment. During my first year, I worked weeknights waitering and gained experience working in the front-shop of a community pharmacy. I worked here throughout my studies and worked in the dispensary in second to fourth years of study; this developed my clinical knowledge and provided me with excellent experience. I became proficient with dispensing and ordering systems, and took every opportunity to learn from my supervisors. I was actively engaged in co-curricular activities and this developed my planning and time management skills. I served on the committee of the pharmacy students association (PEPSA) in 2013 and the committee of the Ballroom and Latin Dancing Society (NMMU BLAD); serving as the Chairperson in 2014 and Intervarsity Coordinator in 2015 of the NMMU BLAD. I developed a keen eye and ability for information analysis, problem solving, and resource management which was recognized in 2014; the Nelson Mandela University awarded me the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Leadership, and the Arts and Culture Administrator of the Year. In 2017 I completed my internship in community pharmacy; during this time I developed excellent patient relationships and facilitated a community health event at a retirement village. In 2018 I completed my community service at the Kagiso Health Centre, under the district pharmacist. I served as a sub-district pharmacist where I was responsible for more than twenty facilities. I managed sub-district stock levels, audited clinics to ideal clinic standards, provided out-patient care, and implemented standard operating procedures at health facilities. I oversaw the procurement of a sub-district site to serve as a depot warehouse for surgical supplies and reserve medication stocks. Following my community service in 2019, I acted the deputy responsible pharmacist at a community pharmacy in Cape Town, South Africa. Overseeing management and operations of the pharmacy. I chose to study pharmacy because of my passions for people, healthcare, and sciences. I have professional interests in drug development, sports medicine, and antimicrobial stewardship. I am currently working as a locum pharmacist, actively seeking work whilst upskilling though professional development.
