I am a qualified Electrical Engineer, with a Bachelor of Technology Degree in Electrical Engineering(received in 2015 at Cape Peninsula University of Technology), specialising in Computer Systems. I am currently full time employed at a Telecommunications Company, who design and manufacture IP telephony platforms. My current position title is Senior Technical Support Engineer, which has been for almost 2 years. I have been with the company for almost 7 years now. In this position I work hand in had with the Technical Manager, in managing our support desk, Unified Communications(UC) platforms, Cloud platforms(VM’s) and internal IT infrastructure. On the support front, I assist and manage various 1st and 2nd tier Support Engineers, who I have trained and who fall under our distributors or resellers of our IP telephony platforms. This includes any software/IT related issue, while always maintaining a Quality of Service approach with regards to the support desk. On the IT infrastructure front, I assist in designing, deploying and managing all IT/networking/server infrastructure, ensuring regularly maintenance and updates are performed on a daily basis. I am also responsible for the configuration, diagnostics, validation, preparation, maintenance, utilization, and designing of our software test stations. Since my job currently is mostly IT related, I have gained extensive of exposure, knowledge and experience with regards to various types of IT platforms and there inner workings, such as Linux, Asterisk, Freepbx, Asternic(Call Center Analyser), Atmos(Call Cabinet), Queue Metrics, MAN3000, Cisco, Windows/Microsoft, mikrotik, ITIL services and macOS, providing support to clients who make use of these platforms in conjunction with our IP telephony platforms. This has also allowed me to grow and improve my skills in design, implement & maintain various for networking and computing platforms. Even though my qualification is an Electrical Engineer, I have specialized in computing systems, and through hard work and perseverance I have equipped myself with the necessary tools to engage any IT platform.
