I hold BA Law, LLB and LLM degrees, a Certificate in Tax from Unisa, a Certificate in Tax Opinions and Drafting with the South African Institute of Tax and a Certificate in Advanced Insolvency Litigation and Administration from the University of Pretoria, among other qualifications. I also hold an Advanced Certificate in VAT (Unisa) and the Advanced Diploma in Estates and Trust Administration (University of the Free State). I have 20 years experience as an admitted attorney, notary public and conveyancer. I currently run my own intellectual property, commercial law and fiduciary law consultancy in Johannesburg. I have extensive experience in intellectual property law (trade marks, patents and copyrights), commercial negotiating, drafting and vetting of agreements; litigation at both High Court and Magistrates Court and have also established and run a legal department at an IT company, where I was Legal and Procurement Manager before opening my consultancy. During my tenure at the said IT company I was part of the Country Management team and was also responsible for conducting training / presentation to all staff on corporate ethics, a responsibility that required a high degree of confidentiality. I have also acted as the Chair of the Disputes Committee of a public Medical Aid Scheme and as such have some familiarity with the medical aid scheme environment.
