I obtained a http://www.******.***. Hons (Cum Laude) in Geography, http://www.******.***. in Geology and Environmental Management, and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Geo-Informatics and Remote Sensing from the University of Johannesburg. I have over four years’ experience in applying the various tools and disciplines of Integrated Environmental Management (IEM), both as a consultant and as an Environmental Control Officer (ECO). My Honours research evaluated the extent of environmental compliance and enforcement pertaining to the acid mine drainage (AMD) crisis at the Grootvlei Gold Mine within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM). In August 2014, I presented my Honours research at the 19th Annual IAIAsa National Conference, in Johannesburg. I have been employed at JBenviroservices since June 2016 and have project managed teams for the preparation of Basic Environmental Impact Assessment (BA) Reports and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Reports for small- to medium-sized projects within the chemical, construction, infrastructure and manufacturing sectors. I am responsible for a large proportion of the environmental compliance, decision-making and core management functions within the firm. Prior to joining JBenviroservices, I was employed as a Sub-Consultant at EOH Coastal and Environmental Services, in Johannesburg. I assisted in the general administration of BA projects and licence applications, as well as the drafting of technical proposals for prospective clients and the undertaking of ECO services for a renewable energy construction project in the Limpopo Province. I possess a holistic knowledge of the framework National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (NEM: AQA), the National Environmental Management: Waste Act (NEM: WA), the National Water Act (NWA), and the associated policies, regulations, guidelines and compliance reporting mechanisms applicable to each Act. My competencies in the environmental management services industry include: ➢ Knowledge and practical experience in the identification of environmental impacts for listed activities, assessment of impacts, application of the environmental management hierarchy and recommending practical, implementable mitigation measures; ➢ Knowledge and practical experience in the compilation, review and evaluation of Scoping reports, EIA reports, scientific environmental reports, specialist reports and environmental licence applications; ➢ Knowledge and practical implementation of the South African Atmospheric Emission Licencing and Inventory Portal (SAAELIP), National Atmospheric Emission Inventory System (NAEIS), and South African Waste Information System (SAWIS); ➢ Knowledge and practical experience in the implementation of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations; ➢ Knowledge and practical experience in the undertaking of the Public Participation Process (PPP), engaging with interested and affected parties (I&APs) or communities, as well as promoting environmental awareness; ➢ Knowledge and practical experience in environmental compliance monitoring inspections and reporting for activities with Environmental Authorisations and licences; and ➢ Knowledge of the Environmental Management System (EMS) (ISO 14001).
