I am passionate about environmental issues, and their complex impact on society. This specifically in the case of food production and distribution. I've gained invaluable insight into the logistical challenges of food distribution during his studies at the University of Johannesburg. My thesis probed into the supply chain realities of fresh produce in Johannesburg. My findings not only suggested the numerous challenges cities face with regards to food distribution but also, they highlighted the complete over-dependency of energy-intensive food supply chains. This by no means represented an anomaly of any sort, as this same scenario is seen across the world. After graduating, I worked as a route and planning optimiser. I gained the opportunity to work with clients who were involved in food distribution. This provided further insight into food supply chains. After this, I began work for an exciting Tec start-up that was established to challenge the inefficacies within the logistics industry in South Africa. This experience provided invaluable insight into managing innovation and entrepreneurship. At this point, I decided to pursue further studies. I was fortunate enough to receive an incredible opportunity to study his Masters in Australia. In 2019, I received a graduate certificate in agricultural science and a master’s degree in environmental studies. I am confident and capable enough to challenge the status quo in food production and distribution. I understand the changes that need to take place to ensure healthy and nutritious food access to people across the world.
