I am a former journalist and English language editor with 20 years experience in the South African publishing industry. Although I have worked on a few poetry books and a handful of novels, I specialise in non-fiction and offer structural and developmental editing, rewriting and abridging, copy-editing, proofreading, photo research, and photo editing. In the last 12 years alone, I have edited or copy-edited more than 60 books – from autobiographies of Umkhonto we Sizwe veterans, super spies, esteemed women stalwarts of the anti-apartheid struggle, and a Ghanaian 'slum-dog millionaire' to academic books about Ubuntu, geopolitics, international relations, the green economy, indigenous knowledge systems, and four books about China. I have also edited and photo-edited several photographic books: one about Palestine by a Swedish diplomat and photographer, a legacy project about South African guitar styles, another about the making of the Thabo Mbeki Presidential Library, and a historical book for the African Export-Import Bank about the making of the first Intra-African Trade Fair. I am a meticulous editor dedicated to producing the best job possible on time, am patient and collaborative with authors, and take great care to preserve their unique voice. I am proficient in and have experience working with British and American English.
