I obtained my BMedSc at UKZN in 2014 with a double major in Anatomy and Microbiology. In 2015, I completed my BMedSc hons in Medical Microbiology with a distinction in the research project as well as obtaining above 70% in Research methods and Biostatistics. My Masters degree, which was completed in 2020, showed promising results, showing that I have the qualities for a career as a future scientist. I have had experience working with human samples HIV positive and HIV negative samples as well as Mycobacterium tuberculosis samples. I have also had the opportunity to work with various equipment and different types of software to analysis experimental results. I have been trained to work with this equipment in a safe manner with the utmost care. I have been trained to work in many different laboratory conditions including tissue culture laboratories, BSL2+ facilities as well as in molecular laboratory settings. My post-graduate career has intensively sharpened by presentation skills as well has given me experience in many extra activities such as lab meetings and journal club presentations. I come with a range of skills and knowledge that will be extremely useful. I am a hard worker and dedicated to any task I undertake. I have every confidence in my abilities to make a success of any task I start. In this short these 3 years of undergraduate studies I have learned many useful skills. I enjoy research, especially laboratory work and find it very interesting and that is the key to success which opens the door to excellency.
