My Profile A successful and accomplished Certified Internal Audit professional that has led a team through a wealth of more than 17 year work experience at Senior and Executive Management level. A leader with transferable skills gained in the Internal Auditing Profession in the Public Sector. A strategic thinker that possesses auditing and strategic skills. A confident and self-motivated person who is assertive, analytical and demonstrates a high degree of honesty and integrity. My exposure in an operational environment has also provided me the experience in implementing controls to strengthen governance, control and risk management. My aspiration is to serve an organization that is progressive, to add value by contributing in the design and improvement identified to enhance governance, risk, and controls after performing a critical assessment of the current processes and systems. My qualifications A member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Institute of Directors (IODSA) with a MBL qualification, a B Com (Acc) degree, an Advanced Diploma in Public Administration, CIA and CCSA certification. I have completed a MBL degree through Unisa (2004), which has equipped me with the necessary skills in systems development, strategic, financial and project management required for the job. Furthermore, I have obtained accreditation to perform Quality Assessment Reviews after completing the IIA’s Quality Assessment Review course with the IIA and have successfully implemented measures in ensuring that the DBSA Internal Audit unit and the ICASA Internal Audit Division “generally conforms” to the IIA Standards. I also attended the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education course for Leaders in Development: Managing Change in a Dynamic World. My experience and professional expertise I have 20 years of experience in the audit environment of which 17 years has been at Senior Management level and which has provided me with hands-on knowledge of risk assessments, audit planning, analysing systems, identifying root causes and making appropriate recommendations to address the exceptions found. I have proven track record in leading, directing and guiding the audit function including reporting to Top Management and the Audit Committee on activities of the unit, risk and resource utilisation. Most recently I have been appointed to serve on the Finance and Audit Committee of Communications Regulatory Authorities of Southern Africa (CRASA) which South Africa is a member of. I have extensive experience in developing policies and procedures specific to the business unit and implement various process improvement initiatives. I have facilitated the enterprise wide risk assessment, and thereafter developed the three-year rolling plan based on the risk register. I have assisted and facilitated the development of the risk strategy and the audit universe. I have first-hand knowledge and experience in combined assurance. Most recently I have involved in developing the combined risk assurance mapping and reporting strategy. I have been instrumental in project managing the Quality Assurance Review programmes in the audit function and have been instrumental in devising and implementing processes to ensure a “generally conforms” opinion is obtained in the quality review process. In addition, I also co-ordinates all common administrative functions within the unit, such as audit committee reporting, staff training, business unit budgeting, staff induction, software control, etc. Furthermore, I have developed instruments that have been incorporated into our audit methodology based on the COSO internal control framework.
